The Road to Closing
In 2024, Colorado First Plumbing and Sewer LLC began downsizing in response to rising operating costs and significant changes in national home warranty contracting — including reduced work volume and restructured reimbursement models from major warranty providers.
By 2025, the company elected to fully disengage from its primary home warranty contracts due to increasing misalignment between program requirements, contractor sustainability, and the service standards Colorado First had built its reputation on.
Between 2024 and 2026, the firm reduced staff from 10 to 3, working to reverse the impact during a period of broader economic shifts in the industry. Despite every effort to adapt, the damage to the business model proved irreversible.
In March 2026, Colorado First Plumbing and Sewer LLC was formally wound down so that Codee and Michelle could pursue new opportunities and provide their children with a life closer to more of the family.
The skills, knowledge, and relationships built during this chapter carry forward — the company may be closed, but the expertise and work ethic remain.
